Very poor quality vinyl flooring

The product we purchased is a floating floor that is coming up on the whole floor. Tried to contact the company and said there was nobody to talk too. How convenient. I would not purchase anything from this company.

Mohawk Takes No Responsibility for Faulty Flooring

Mohawk Industries - Mohawk Takes No Responsibility for Faulty Flooring

Since July of 2020 we have been working through Lowes asking Mohawk to take financial responsibility for a flooring that was properly installed throughout the whole house but continued to come apart at the butt-end. Not just in one spot...throughout the whole house.

After many rude communications with the Mohawk team, we ask Lowes Corporate to step in and represent our interest.

This is when we realized the poor ethical style of this organization. An inspection was scheduled to confirm the flooring's faulty construction, and a day after the inspection was canceled. Mohawk told Lowes that because this was a rental, the warranty was voided. Perfect scape strategy.

However, this was a brand-new construction, and we have had a tenant for less than one year (a single mother with a 10-year-old) Regardless of the tenancy,a flooring installed in 2020, failed six months after (while not rented) and how does an organization like Mohawk take the chance to crush real estate investing organizations with this answer.

Our request was simple, reimburse the cost of the product, and we will use the funds to have a flooring person glue together all the seams.

For us, a happy tenant was not worth disturbing to remove the full house flooring to replace the flooring with another choice.

The bottom line is, if you have a rental property, read the Mohawk (point 3 font) contract statement.

Although you won't find the statement that says... Installation on Rental Properties Voids The Warranty, the organization will wash their hands and say that this is in the warranty agreement.

Warranty is BS! Claims dept lies!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We bought the waterproof laminate flooring because we were putting it in a bathroom and laundry room. Well not even a year into living in our new house and the edges of the floor are coming up.

It's like the seams are swelling, and not even in the areas that might get water drips! The guest bathroom is totally fine, but the kitchen, hallway, and other high traffic areas are really bad. Mohawk sent an inspector out after months of us asking, and the just denied the claim stating they found pet urine in the "problem areas." #1, we don't have indoor pets!! So their claim is a lie!

#2, the problem areas are most of the house...so there was imaginary pet urine all over my house? I don't think so!

I'll be fighting this. Never again will I buy from Mohawk!

A complaint from my flooring co with iPhone pictures were submitted to Mohawk for review. The complaint was denied and I was told to get an independent contractor at $500.00 to review my vinyl sheet flooring. My builder Cory and two men from my flooring co all said there is a problem with my floor but still the complaint was denied. Whats going on, is the flooring company hiding something? Did they order cheaper product then we approved? I should not have to have a $500.00 charge when my flooring is defective

I purchased this kitchen mat at Costco. I did not notice the issue immediately, but my wife and I soon began tripping over the edge of the mat. After inspecting the product, I noted two of the edges were 1/2-inch or more above the floor. I left it in place for a couple of weeks, thinking the raised edge would eventually settle to the floor, but it did not. The tripping potential is so great that I had to remove the mat from service. My wife and I are not young anymore, and a stumble on this mat could cause a serious fall injury. At this point, I am considering reporting the issue to the CPSC.

We purchased vinyl flooring for our kitchen from Lowes. The last year or so, we've noticed that the flooring was buckling and wavy. Originally, when we purchased the flooring at Lowes, we were told that it was made by Armstrong and had a 15 year guarantee. However, when we called Armstrong, they said Mohawk was the company to contact at this time. The manager of the flooring dept at Lowes contacted Mohawk for us and last week they responded saying that they would not help us resolve this issue! He was upset also! In fact, on October 30,I was connected to a representative named Debbie from the claims dept at Mohawk, and she was extremely rude! I told her that I just wanted someone to come over to straighten out the floor. She said, "I told you that there is nothing we can do for you!" Then she hung up on me! What a nasty girl! I then spoke to a very nice guy named Jimmy in the Consumer Affairs Dept. He suggested writing my dispute, which I'm doing now. Please help us with this matter so we can enjoy our kitchen once again! I will blow up the internet to inform people how bad Mohawk engineered hardwood flooring is and how they do not stand behind their own warning I've had a floor installed for approximately two years that cost me around $10,000 that is now shipping and peeling and just overall a complete mess on top of that this floor is discontinued now so even with their lifetime finish warranty they cannot honor that their own installer who is authorized by then said this is the crappiest floor he has ever seen and he will not install it again well that's blatantly obvious considering it's no longer manufactured and yet they send out an inspector on their terms who finds nothing wrong with the manufactured product big surprise there my own two independent inspections found that this is an inferior product for flooring hands-down poorly made and poorly constructed there is no proper way to install this without having problems there excuses that it's not their issue I unfortunately now have to refer to my attorney and file suit to recover my losses I wish and manufacturer would stand behind their product is I do with anything I build

Hello Richard, this is Laura with Mohawk - I'm very sorry for your experience. Although the claim was declined based on an inspection, you can have the claim reopened: you would hire a certified independent inspector (details below) to assess your flooring.

If that inspector has different findings from the first inspector, you can send their report to consumer@mohawkind.com, and the claim will be reopened. You mention that you have already had additional inspections done on your flooring. If these were performed by inspectors who are certified with either the NICFI or the IICRC, please send a copy of those reports to consumer@mohawkind.com for review.

If you choose to hire an inspector, they must be certified by either the NICFI or the IICRC. You can find certified independent inspectors on the following sites; they usually have a wide radius of service: http://www.nicfi.org/Search.aspx https://www.iicrc.org/page/IICRCGlobalLocator I'm very sorry again for your experience!

Mohawk Industries - OMG , no customer service can be any worst
Installed cashmere mohawk carpet thru home depoy 3 years ago, with a 24 year warranty, what could go wrong if it cost me $4,500.00 for 75 sq feet. LOL. My carpet is 3 years old, has lost texture tension , worn, faded, matted, and even with best of care it looks 15 years old. Mohawk claims is the worst with excuses and lies. Im getting no where with my claim . Its been a month of calling them and no matter what number i call i get a person, Vanessa, who said she handles ALL claims, Vanessa must be a common name in Georgia. She always has a excuse for anything you question. So full of hog wash. I intend to go public with my complaint, if not resolved in next couple days. Home depoy sold me the csrpet and stood behind mohawk when i purched the carpet, where are they now ?

Vanessa leads our Consumer Affairs department; however, the store where you purchased the carpet is supposed to handle the entire claim on your behalf and do all communication with Mohawk for you. If you are contacting Consumer Affairs to get an update on your claim, they may be requesting that you contact your store instead, as all claim information and updates are provided by the Claims Analyst to your store to discuss with you. Your primary contact for your claim is your store.

At the store was show a sample of Smart Strand Carpet, poured water on it, the water beaded up, we though Great! But when it was installed, tested it, water soaked right it. Our store sent Mohawk a sample of it, they tested and said it did not reserve the proper treatment at the mill, and would replace, so great, but we test d the replacement, same results.... one color had some resistance to water, not at all as good as the sample, but some. The other, none at all.

Mohawk and my local retailer agreed to help with the second moving of the grand piano. Thanks!!

Updated by user Apr 04, 2019

Update. Apparently people and companies do read reviews!

I have to say I'm satisfied now. My local retailer worked with Mohawk and have resolved the issue to my satisfaction.

Original review Mar 04, 2019
Purchased Mohawk Vintage carpet in October. Had to move a 1200 lb grand piano up a stair to allow for install.

Carpet installer did a great job. It was evening and everything looked fine. I brought in a crew to return the piano to place. The next morning, with light coming through the windows, it was discovered that the carpet was flawed throughout - lines from a "low row" every few inches, The company admitted it was a flaw, but was unwilling to do anything about the very expensive proposition of bringing in piano movers TWICE to remove and restore the piano.

The offered a small amount of financial compensation. So I was faced with either shouldering the expense of moving a piano - again - twice, or accepting the 'compensation' and living with a flawed carpet.
Either way, I get burned and the company walks from a problem that they should have seen if there had been adequate quality control on their end.

Don't they look at this carpet before sending it out? Would not go with Mohawk ever again.

Wow!!! You certainly take the cake!!

Please Do us all a favor and break it down for us! You were offered a replacement or a specified monetary amount. YOU chose the money. And NOW claim how unfair it was.

Stop for a moment and listen to yourself!! You claim it’s unfair but you want them to eat the entire cost. So then how is that fair to them? You can’t claim a unfair advantage and expect that they are going to play ball.

Real adults have learned the skill of compromising. You compromised and NOW WANT MORE!! What kind of thief are you?!? You got your money so deal with what you agreed to.

You do realize that by even making this post you are committing fraud right? Yeah ppl like you NEVER stop to realize when you screw yourself over. By signing that paper and accepting that money you agreed to a legally binding contract. And now you seem to circumvent that.

I guess you REALLY must need that money!! Why else would you put yourself in danger of a defamation lawsuit by practically lying online.

What an *** response! I'm considering a Mohawk LVP and you might have driven me away.

What a ridiculous comment to make to someone who wanted the labor covered to move the piano. A good company would admit the fault, pay for the piano move, and make the customer happy.

Hello Allan, I apologize again for your experience with your carpet. Unfortunately, our decision remains the same regarding the allowance that was offered by Mohawk and accepted by you.

The letter that you signed expresses that once the allowance is accepted by you, no further claims may be made for the same issue. In other words, you cannot receive another allowance for the same concern. Please refer to your letter for reference to this information. Also note that your other warranties are otherwise intact.

When our Claims team offered the option of either replacement carpet or the allowance, we did not have any information regarding a piano and its impact on your decision, so we were unable to take that into consideration in our offers.

I apologize again for your experience. Laura with Mohawk

Hello Allan, this is Laura with Mohawk - we exchanged messages on another platform. I'm very sorry for your experience with your carpet.

Laura, Yes, my retailer "reached out." That was October-November. It was only when I started writing of my experiences five months later that he called me back.

However, if I understand him correctly, he indicated that it was the Mohawk rep that was unwilling to do anything further. So it seems like a catch-22 situation here. Mohawk refers me to the retailer. The retailer says he's trying to get something from Mohawk .

.

. And it's been five months.

Hello Allan, this is Laura with Mohawk again - I spoke with the Consumer Affairs team and they explained that the signed letter, accepting the allowance instead of a replacement, effectively closed the claim. I apologize again for your experience. Laura with Mohawk

Guest

Laura, Consumer affairs "effectively closed the claim." Just because consumer affairs has a policy, it doesn't make it fair. It's not like it's a federal statute.

In my opinion, consumer affairs is saying they don't want to do anything. I believe they certainly could if they wanted to. I have two questions. Mohawk admitted that the carpet was flawed.

All I can think is that their quality control process was inadequate in this case, OR Mohawk deliberately sent out flawed carpet hoping that there would be few enough claims that they would cover some of their losses. There may be other reasons but I can't think of any. So Mohawk's error/scheme/whatever, and perhaps my retailer's error in not inspecting the carpet carefully results in my having to shoulder the cost of moving my piano. Call up a piano moving company, ask them the cost of moving a 1200 lb grand up a stair and then double that cost.

That is what Mohawk was asking me to pay for THEIR mistake. So to my questions: Do you think it is fair for me to pay for Mohawk's mistake?

I was contacted by a consumer social media site to do a video interview outlining my experiences with Mohawk. Do you have anything further to add to the discussion before I make my decision about that?

Hi there, I'm Laura with Mohawk, and I'm really sorry to hear about your experience with your flooring - the party who sold you the flooring is responsible for working with Mohawk on your behalf regarding any claim concerns, but if the dealer or builder is being unresponsive to you, you can reach out to our Consumer Affairs team, consumer@mohawkind.com, provide them with your claim number (the claim for this new round of flooring that replaced the first flooring installed), and explain that you are having difficulties getting a response from your dealer or builder. The Consumer Affairs team may reach out to them to ask that they assist you.
